Love Poem

For you I will do
what you want me to do
that's right you!

Love you for the beautiful person you are
you, my love, are my unique and magnificent star!

I looked at you from afar,
you had to know,
I wanted more than a show.

Came close, real close
to kissing you back then,
but my heart was still very much like tin.

You kept talking
and walking with me,
and made me see what true love could be!

So I took a chance
and got swept into this romance.

You helped me be the person you now see!
This is why I'm willing to make you a part of me.

Two halfs become whole.
Take a glimpse of my soul.

Can you see it?
The bright light that shines within me.
Feel me, see me, and be that one for me!

Let us live long and not wrong,
let us praise our God with a song.

Fresh air, tall trees, blue skies, and no lies,
you, me and my awaking to a sunrise!

Have my hand on my heart,
seeking that fresh start!
You are my sweet tart!
Tasty and bold,
baby you got me sold!

So take my hand and hold it real tight,
and let us seal our love with all our might!
Before God we stand,
our Maker of this land.

Staying true to who we are,
no need to stay afar.

Got So Much to Say

Say,
I need to tell you this before May,
got plans on leaving, can't stay.
At least I'm warning you before our wedding day!

Tried to pray,
but hey...
looks like God isn't listening to me today.

Say,
I need to tell you this before Sunday,
got plans on leaving, can't stay.
I was going to wait a little later, near May,
but hey...
confession is Saturday.

Made time for me,
oh noooww you can see me!

"Oh Hi"! You say.
I'm telling you bye, bye before we lay.
Having sex, doesn't make our relationship okay!

Since you're listening and
tears in swollen eyes are glistening,
what might you have to say,
oh so you want to pray!?

There you go with another lie,
like a red eye with a stye.
a bad romance like this has got to die,
I insist!

Can't cover it up with roses,
you might as well turn into Moses
and let your people go!

Say so long to kids,
keep wearing those lids,
you cradle robber, killing babies like SIDS!

Going around pretending you're single,
smooth talking making women tingle.

Oh, but you don't want that--
a break up, you remind me of the pact!
Well then act like it then,
and stop playing around in sin!

What are you willing to do?
I know you told a few.
Shared your heart, and our start.
Pushed our love like a shopping cart.

Blamed me for everything,
you know that's the song you like to sing.

Slow moving at first,
then an energy burst!
See the relationship is sinking
and your pleading stories are stinking.

So what will you do now?
And tell me again, "How?"
How are you going to fix things?
No need to shop for wedding rings!

I have my hand on the trigger,
so you better figure!
Starting to hate you as much
as the word n*gger.

Now that's saying alot
for someone who was bought.
Christ I had sought.

Because if I hadn't, I would have played you like a fiddle,
confused your mind like a riddle.

So yes Jesus saves,
and yes he shaves
all my pain away
and that's all I have to say!

The Beauty in Love

The absolutely beautiful thing about love
is not what appears before needy hands,
naive eyes, and eager legs ready to open wide,

but the beautiful thing about love...

just is.

You're Not Crazy, He's Just Wrong for You

Unclean hands,

he calls them clean.

That’s what he does,

inner spirit, mean.

Wrong about issues,

says he’s right.

Hold things against you,

all night.

Starts trouble with his lies,

claims he tells the truth.

Ignores your cries.

You say up,

he says down.

There he goes with his frown!

Show him a good time and a few good things,

he looks for the bad in the lyrics that he sings.

Passive, aggressive.

Seeks ways to pay you back,

puffs himself up,

came from lack.

Doesn’t listen to sound advice,

wisdom he ignores;

rather play a head game of dice.

What’s up with this man?

Rarely smiles.

Been walking with him for miles.

Convinces self,

“I’m good.”

Doesn’t want anyone telling him, “You should…”

A distorted view on who he really is.

Love like his, loses its fizz.

Tried communicating,

But so suffocating!

Feelings used against me,

Pain runs like the sea.

So I went to God…

witnesses saw the truth,

pointed out lies,

relationship dies.

Now he doesn’t speak,

tries to appear meek.

No one’s friend

when in sin.

Don’t have the patience

to start again.

Can’t counsel anymore,

asking God to restore

a broken heart once more.

Love What, Love Who!?

Poem dedicated to any reader who has been asked by a mate to do things you really didn't want to do.

Love you, love what?

If I agree to this,
then who might I be?

Say what, say who?
What about you?

I have to think about this.
Don't know if I can put up with this.

Not happy with that,
compromise what!?  For a few...

Gifts, kisses?  But, that's right holiday misses!
All is forgotten, but not necessarily.

Somehow equated love with what you do--
had a feeling things would go like this!

Routines, tasks, life challenges.
Death, mayhem, crying, misunderstandings.

Love you, love what, love who!?

A representation of a mother, a father
with issues--oh yes, lots of issues!
Relatives here, there and everywhere!
Past friends, co-workers, fans...
so many want access to you!

I am to love the you, the who, within.
But who are you really?

So many guards, protection all around
a torn heart, a childhood past, and addictions that seem to last and last!

Eyes look through me.
I think your asking too much!

Don't know the who, the what, the where, the why
and how might I go about this?

Expecting me to be open to what you do.
Find myself asking,
"Love what, love who?"

Lost Me

When love walked in,
Me walked out.

Focused on him.
The way he looked, dressed, walked, smiled...
it was all about him.

When he called.
Available.
When he came by.
Dropped everything.
When he wanted something.
Gave it to him.

Got angry one day.
Looked in the mirror.
Didn't recognize the eyes that looked back at Me.

Pregnant Me,
so far gone!

Between child and man,
no time for Me.

My identity stolen.
Left it out to be snatched away.

Their worlds, became my world.
Their time, became mine.

Lost myself in them.

Who was I?

Still bold, brash, loving, kind, sweet...
it was hard to tell.

I felt weak.

Mother, wife
was all that came to mind.

Forgot about what I liked to do.
Painting, singing, talking, sightseeing.

So I stole back Me.
When loved walked in, I didn't walk
this time.

Stuck with my plan.
This was my life,
and I was still Me.

Love for Those Who Don't Love Me

Even if I fail to say, "I love you"
and even if I don't agree with everything you say or do
just know I still got love for you.

Don't need to live with you, call you everyday, or expect you to do something for me.
Still got love anyway.
A past created the foundation for emotions I have today.
A past awoke something in me that lives in me.
An unexplainable compassion, appreciation, and thoughtfulness.

Rarely do I see such emotions returned.
A half-hearted smile, a short response, and a "I got to go."

Oh yes!  Still got love for those who don't love me,
no time to get to know me,
not really interested in my offspring and the joy that they can bring.

"Give me" is in season.
Let the phone ring, the well-wishes, and the niceties begin.
But once good times pass,
it's back to not knowing me.

Is there a mirror that shows the ugly that men do and women talk about?
Would they be able to see themselves?
For I knew someone once who hugged hateful hearts.
Showed love to people who didn't deserve her.
She found a resting place, sooner rather than later.

Love for those who don't love me such a noble feat.
Give praise to a God who loves us unconditionally.
Remember what once was and learn from it.

So I smile, go along with the program,
while deep inside I know,
they love me not.

In The Middle of the Road

Feel good?
Lie.
Straighten up a tie.
Pretend that I didn't ask, "Why?"
Often keeping things to yourself.
Busy like an elf.

Thought I had something good when I looked at you.
But took in your perspective, your view.
You didn't like me much.
But you used me as a crutch!
Hobbled along in this relationship.
Ignored my each and every tip.

See I know what this is really about.
You claim I like to make trouble and shout.
But you run, don't like no one messing with your fun.

What are we going to do?
Our years remaining are few.

Got bigger fish to fry!
Got to get pass yesteryears's lie.

You see the more I do, I do, I do...
it seems the more you don't want to change your view, your view, your view.
So sick and tired of you!

Found a way to make peace before I cracked,
got over the things that I had lacked.
There is a new friend in my town.
Don't need him to act like a clown.

Found a friend in what some call Jesus--
hope he can mediate between us.
