Unleashed

Never figured it out
didn't shout it out
wasn't going to go back
to my heart in my hands
waiting for someone to
take it
twist it
shake it
mix it
and serve it back to me
learned the lesson
stopped confessin
about what I could have
should have
would have
done,
so DONE!

My heart beats
flutters
tightens
warns me
it won't be long
heard the prophecy
in God's song

In the meantime...

I write
even when I'm uptight
even when it's night
even in the dark with little light
I write--
don't claim to be right
just know how to preach my insight.

Unleashed the pain within
the past sin
the stuff evil said I wasn't supposed to say...
told to be quiet, sit and pray.
Nope Satan, not today.

Unleashed!
Unleashed!

Let truth shine
come from behind
no self-pity or guilt
no pride holding me on stilts--
saw too many knocked down
tears still on faces while they lay on the ground.

We Have History

We have history you and I
read a story of how you won
a young girl's heart
with your smooth words and mature demeanor.

You acted much older than your age
an intelligent man, a kind man, a friend of a friend
You were going places in life
but you like others had a weakness...women.

You broke her heart with your flirtacious grin.
Never focused too long on what was in front of you
always looking around.
You wanted her to do things with you that she wasn't ready.
She said no, and you had to go...
off into someone else's arms!
Oh how she despised you!

Later in life they would meet again
he would tell her of the love he made, and the love he gave...
Never did they connect, even then he wanted more.

As they grew older they spoke of their lives
and the changes they had been through
her heartbroken
his destroyed.

It could have been her in that truck
but they never did connect.

Always close calls, close encounters
but never meant to be.
Just as she wrote a poem to him many years ago...
penned her angry thoughts for having trusted him.
a sad end back then
a sad end now
while his music plays on...
