Relationship Advice & Experiences

Besides writing poetry, I share my relationship tips and experiences on other sites.  You might find some of my writings useful.  One site you might want to check out if you have your share of relationship challenges is Laboring to Love an Abusive Mate.  Although the title is dedicated to those in abusive relationships, there are some articles on the site that will help with some relationship concerns before they turn into abuse.  You can also order a copy of my poetry book about my abusive experience on Amazon.com.

Love Me

Allow me to rest easy in your arms,
say soft words and decorate me with charms.

Love me like no other.
Respect me like you do your mother.

Be my best friend,
until the very end.

There aren't many of you left.
You are the best secret kept.

Some tell me I'm lucky to have you.
That's why I do all that I can do.

But sometimes you forget,
just how we first met.

There was no real connection.
Our flesh wasn't yet under subjection.

So we didn't really try.
We just gave it all up for a lie.

Sometimes we have to review the past,
in order to make love last.

Sometimes we have to realize the truth.
Go back to the book of Ruth.

For you were my Boaz,
and I was your Ruth.

It was like a business meeting,
just with limited seating.

Ruth needed security,
Boaz wasn't looking for an enemy.

Both allowed one another in,
both knew the consequences of sin.

He took care of her,
wrapped her up like fur.

Now I want that too.
Want to know that you will be true.

There is a sun in our life.
Takes away all the stress and strife.

Need to know that you are on my team.
Need to know that you are all that you seem.

So make me permanent in your life.
Make this thing exclusive, make me your wife.

Love Muse

Saw you the other day,
my perfect muse.
Never hurt me with unkind words,
touched me,
or lusted for me.
Don't know if you ever thought of me beyond a simple conversation.

So glad to have been in your presence for a time.
You warmed my heart.
Gave me peace of mind, but for a second.
A simple gift of music and I welcomed it.

Listened to your voice and I knew you were special.
My blue sky,
my sun.
Never rainy.
No storm clouds
above my head.

No worries about, "What if..."
No drama about, "Who is that?"
No pain caused from lying.

It was all so very simple back then,
a look, a smile.

It's because of you,
my muse,
a bridge that helps me love again.

You Can't Buy a Man's Love

Buy that man something nice,
so grateful for his sugar and spice.

He gives your weak heart something to sing,
while you sit back waiting for that ring.

Don't know what next that you could do,
but step in his shoes and see his view.

Money can't buy love, so don't even try.
Avoid the hype, don't believe the lie.

Sure he smiled and said, "Oh, thank you."
But what happens when the dollars are few?

Will he have your back during times of lack?
Will he be there when lust has lost its stare?

Does he do for you like you do for him?
Does he fill your love cup to the brim?

Seems like he loves to take and take.
Leaving you feeling like he's a fake.

Watch the man, know where he stands!
Don't put anything more in his hands!

He Cheated, Now He Wants Me Back

What would it take to mend my heartbreak?
Thought I found a husband in you.
What is a girl to do?

You stopped calling,
I stopped falling.

Wanted more, but you claimed
life with me, would be a bore.
You were only interested in the whore.

She wore the short, red dress.
Had a a behind and legs to impress.

She seduced you with red lips,
put her hands on wide hips.

You said she was only a friend.
Made up in your mind I was a dead-end.

It wouldn't be long when you would find out,
that she was all show, she had no clout.

You forgot about all the benefits I could bring
and how I made your heart sing.

You forgot about the laughs we had
and how sex with me was never bad.

There was another and another
one after the other, all they wanted was to take down a brother.

Now you come back to me with tears in your eyes
trying to make me forget all the white lies.

But I have moved on and feel rather good,
I hope that all I have said has been understood.

Don't want a man who keeps playing with sin
who think if he charms he will always win.

Don't need a man who can't help me out,
who rather make me cry and shout.

All I ever desired in my life was love
that made me feel like it came from above.
