I Know You

You don't know me
but I know you.

Been watching you for awhile now.
You like your eggs scrambled and your coffee black.

You leave about 8:30 a.m. from the shop
and off to work you go.

My ears have been open a long time to your voice.
Didn't have to follow you out the door to know where you work.

A white collar brotha, smart.
You closed a deal the other day, the biggest one in your career.

Recently you suffered a loss in your family so I heard.
Thought I might leave a note by your plate when you stepped away.
"I'm sorry" is all I would have said.

I thought of revealing myself, but I knew you were damaged goods.
For it isn't that easy to get over your wife.
