Shuffled Vision of You

Shuffling feet
Stop take a breath.

Strong arms
pushed my body into the chair.
Angry thoughts, I saw you.

You smiled it was different
You couldn’t get love at home.
Didn’t have any to give
So you shuffled your feet
To another one’s home.

Took deep breaths
In and out.
Up and down
On a lazy boy chair.

She flung her arms around you
and pushed you down
or so you would like me to think.

I saw you naked!
Naked lie!
Naked truth!
In my shuffled vision.

While I took a deep breath.

I Still Want To Marry…

If I could take a moment
to think about yesterday.
My heart pounded in my chest
racing within your dreams.

You told me you loved me
wanted to spend the rest of your life
with me.

Images of a white wedding
briefly flashed through my mind.
I cried inside…

You told me of a big house
Saturday morning breakfast
watching cartoons
spending time with the children.

It seemed so right
but I ached inside.
I didn’t want that life anymore.

You opened wounds
I had lived it all before.

A glossy tear filled your right eye
You were hiding your pain.
Tempted to leave the room, yet you stayed.

You were not him.
A mistake from my past.
An uncomfortable quiet,
we looked to the floor.

Negative energy you and I endured,
All the while reaching an understanding.

Love

I love, love but it doesn’t love me.
Love is too busy, too self-absorbed.

Wanting nothing better then to give
A little and take a lot
Of my soul
My hole
My freedom
And crush me.

Hurt me until I can’t get
Up from the avalanche of pain
On top of my head…

I hate love and it doesn’t love me.

When Mothers Fall Out of Love

Lost my freedom!
My spirit
My smile
My laugh
My peace
My joy
My strength
to the man in black
the baby in blue
to another in red
couldn’t make sense of all this.

This is why strangers look stressed,
confused, bitter, unresolved issues.
Too many screams, not enough money.
And I envied this life?

What was I thinking?
That’s right, I wasn’t.
God was.
A vessel - all I am is a vessel.

Hold my hand through this maze
of confusion!
Happy mom, sad mom.
Angry wife, peaceful wife.
Hateful friend, loving friend.

Help!
I’m falling out of love!

Money and the Working Parent

Born into the world needy
grew up and became greedy.

First baby boy born
my heart now torn.

Split between job and time
can't seem to save a dime.

Don't want to have to choose
for I know my child will lose.

Living check to check
a credit card wreck.

Loan upon loan
only a sigh and a moan.

Dirty diapers and cries
the American dream lies.

Hold my limp hand
tired legs can't stand.

Freezer meal junkie
laundry smells funky.

Sink full of dishes
and pot of gold wishes.

Tired husband, wife
feeling the stress, strife.

Nights provide a break
One day by a lake.

Giving up on some things
while the church bell rings.

No more, no more
my heart no longer tore.

Choose between job or time?
my love is above a dime.

Time is Love

Small boy walks, grows up talks.
"Mama look and see,I can write a three."

"Go play dear!" Boy wipes a tear.

Small girl cries, dad always lies.
"I'll make time, here take this dime."

"I don't want it, sit here a bit."

"No not now, I'll make a vow.
You go play, I'll be back your way."

Small boy walks, grows up talks.
"Things to do, no time for you."

Small girl cries, dad always lies!
"Have no time, busy making a dime."

A picture of a dove, no time to love.
