Love for Those Who Don't Love Me

Even if I fail to say, "I love you"
and even if I don't agree with everything you say or do
just know I still got love for you.

Don't need to live with you, call you everyday, or expect you to do something for me.
Still got love anyway.
A past created the foundation for emotions I have today.
A past awoke something in me that lives in me.
An unexplainable compassion, appreciation, and thoughtfulness.

Rarely do I see such emotions returned.
A half-hearted smile, a short response, and a "I got to go."

Oh yes!  Still got love for those who don't love me,
no time to get to know me,
not really interested in my offspring and the joy that they can bring.

"Give me" is in season.
Let the phone ring, the well-wishes, and the niceties begin.
But once good times pass,
it's back to not knowing me.

Is there a mirror that shows the ugly that men do and women talk about?
Would they be able to see themselves?
For I knew someone once who hugged hateful hearts.
Showed love to people who didn't deserve her.
She found a resting place, sooner rather than later.

Love for those who don't love me such a noble feat.
Give praise to a God who loves us unconditionally.
Remember what once was and learn from it.

So I smile, go along with the program,
while deep inside I know,
they love me not.

In The Middle of the Road

Feel good?
Lie.
Straighten up a tie.
Pretend that I didn't ask, "Why?"
Often keeping things to yourself.
Busy like an elf.

Thought I had something good when I looked at you.
But took in your perspective, your view.
You didn't like me much.
But you used me as a crutch!
Hobbled along in this relationship.
Ignored my each and every tip.

See I know what this is really about.
You claim I like to make trouble and shout.
But you run, don't like no one messing with your fun.

What are we going to do?
Our years remaining are few.

Got bigger fish to fry!
Got to get pass yesteryears's lie.

You see the more I do, I do, I do...
it seems the more you don't want to change your view, your view, your view.
So sick and tired of you!

Found a way to make peace before I cracked,
got over the things that I had lacked.
There is a new friend in my town.
Don't need him to act like a clown.

Found a friend in what some call Jesus--
hope he can mediate between us.
