Celebrity Love

Infatuated with his smile
captivated by her lips
Watching her shake her sexy hips.
Thought I would marry him
thought he would be mine
I was about the young age of nine.

They steal our minds
Stir our hearts
Then do things to us that feel like darts.

Keep us guessing
thinking about a life
while we hold our heads
overwhelmed with strife.

I love what I see on TV
but it isn’t the same standing in front of me.

The walk isn't right
the talk isn't smooth
a kiss on the cheek I hope will sooth.

Celebrity love
once had it
bit by the bug
spelled his name in a rug.

Had dreams
lost sleep
for a celebrity creep.

Up all night dreaming
some times tears streaming
music embraced my soul
made me feel like I was achieving a goal.
Up all day hoping
to catch a glimpse
maybe one day I would represent.

Young and beautiful
but it goes away so fast
a long lost image from the past.

Old and ugly
seems to stick around long
reminds me of a tired love song.

Look at my clock
walk out my door
hope to see a celebrity at a store.
Books line the shelves
faces secretly in hell
not too many places they can dwell.

Another one dies
from a bottle of pills
to help with stage fright and chills.
Anxiety, depression, and confusion
doesn’t belong in the illusion.

Lose the weight
gain the weight
for the next big date.

Another one dies by pills
the media gets cheap thrills.

Alcohol, drugs, and weed
to kill yet another future seed.

Another and another loss
so we say we care,
yet secrets we share.

With our lights, camera, and action
what more do we want?
stand in a face and taunt?
Where does celebrity sit
where does celebrity eat
what will be his very next feat?
What does celebrity wear?
Oh we care yes we do
not too busy to say, "Woo!"

So I dedicate this to you
my celebrity love
while we stand in line to push and shove!
"Wouldn’t be anything without you,"
say "thank you God" to impress a few!
For the nudity, the offensive lines
and big, ole' exposed behinds.

Thank God they say
for the whores
and what goes on behind closed doors,
the blood, and the audience across the shores.

That's what they do
the celebrities in you.
